In cooperation with NIVEA, the German Life Saving Association (DLRG) has organized children’s beach festivals to promote water safety and swimming skills every year since 1989. During the summer months, the festival tours selected seaside resorts along the German North Sea and Baltic Sea coasts. One August afternoon per year, the festival is scheduled for the pier in the seaside resort of Wustrow.
Puppet shows, water sports quizzes, giant bouncy castles and playground parachutes … the festival offers something for children of all ages. The highlight is an aerobics event that transforms the beach into a sea of blue. The festival takes place from 2 pm to 5 pm.
The beach festival is accompanied by a fundraising initiative. All donations are matched by NIVEA and over the past 20 years, these funds have enabled the DLRG to purchase and maintain over 100 lifeboats.
