Modern art in an old barn

The gallery Kunstscheune Barnstorf has featured paintings, sculptures, ceramics and jewellery by North German artists for more than thirty years. The wooden beams of this historic thatch-roof barn are often in stark contrast to the contemporary art on display. The gallery curates two different exhibitions each summer. During the Christmas and Easter seasons, hand-picked artists have the opportunity to display items for sale in the high hall of the main house.

The historic half-timbered barn is located directly on the shore of Saaler Bodden in the district of Barnstorf, less than one kilometre south-east of Wustrow. After enjoying the exhibition, it is worth taking a stroll past the neighbouring farmsteads with their magnificent farm gardens and Low German hall houses dating back to the Middle Ages.
