Amateur theatre

In October 2006, seven women who were interested in playing theatre met at the Fischlandhaus. After a few meetings, a group of amateur actresses was formed under the initiator Dörte Richter, who gave themselves the name "Wustrower Theaterweiber" (Wustrow Theatre Women) in reference to the Ahrenshoop Painting Women. Although they were approached, at first there were no interested males.

Every year since then, the "Theaterweiber" (Theatre Women) prepare a programme in winter that is shown several times during the summer months for holidaymakers and residents. These include crime comedies, programmes with scenes by Loriot or lake-related stories, classics such as "The Imaginary Sick" by Molière or a play by August von Kotzebue from the 19th century.

The Theaterweiber prove to be resourceful and humorous when some of their plays refer to the region and some are based on the present. Creativity and joy in acting are their trademarks, although they are well aware that they are acting as amateur actors. The circle of female performers has changed over the years for various reasons of a private or professional nature.

In 2018 there was a male performer for the first time, whereupon the name of the Theatre Women was given a "plus", and in 2021 they even welcomed another young man to the circle.

The play dates can be found online and in print in our event calendars.
